Biennale Matter of Art 2024

The third edition of the Prague-based international exhibition organised by tranzit.cz /


This year's Biennale Matter of Art will take place from June 14, 2024, to September 29, 2024, in the Grand Hall of the National Gallery Prague and other venues. Curated by Katalin Erdődi and Aleksei Borisionok, the project will also feature a new bilingual publication comprising theoretical texts and artistic contributions. Admission to the biennale as well as the accompanying public program will be free of charge.

Aleksei Borisionok and Katalin Erdődi, curators of the upcoming Matter of Art Biennale in Prague (2024) will share work experiences and research interests in a seminar of accidental wisdom. Grafting two curatorial lines into one project, the curators will look at how historical struggles in rural and urban contexts resonate with the contemporary moment and enable us to think about more emancipatory possible futures.

From November 30 till December 29, tranzit.cz in collaboration with Lidice Memorial and Lidice Art Collection will host Ukrainian artist Nikita Kadan. The residency is part of the upcoming Biennale Matter of Art 2024 and will result in the making of a new commissioned artwork.

Kyiv 23' Biennial



The fifth edition of Kyiv Biennial will be international and will take place in Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod, Vienna, Warsaw and Berlin.

In view of the brutal Russian attack on Ukraine, a comprehensive biennial project in Kyiv long seemed deeply uncertain, if not impossible. But, with a cascade of openings – starting in Kyiv and Vienna in October 2023, finishing in Berlin in 2024 – the fifth Kyiv Biennial will take place. This Biennial edition is conceived as a European event, with dispersed exhibitions and public programs in a number of Ukrainian and EU cities, and realized in partnership with leading European institutions in the field of contemporary art.

tranzit.cz is publishing the first czech translation of Sophie Lewis's radical book /


On the evening of Wednesday 27 September 2023 the premises of the Petrohradská kolektiv will host the launch of the book Abolish the Family, featuring a thematic workshop headed by Maja Vusilović and Eliška Koldová from Druhá : směna. During the course of the evening the book shall be on sale at a special discount. Admission to the event is free of charge, but the capacity of the workshop is limited, so please register if you wish to take part in the latter.
